Jörg Boner trained as cabinet- maker and design draughtsman, before studying design at the Schule fur Gestaltung Basel. In 2001 he made his own design studio in Zurich. Jörg Boner values the sculptural aspect of design. He has developed an approach that involves the cardboard model as an inherent component of the design process. Working with drawings and patterns, three-dimensional examples are produced by hand, then revised and remade in a continuous process of ‘handicraft’ until the precise design of the product is complete. The balance between form and technology is what is sought in each and every product. “There is a freedom that consists in being able to do in your job as designer whatever you like. On the one hand I have this freedom and I enjoy it. But even more do I enjoy finding out what „must“ be done in a given situation. I am interested in which project has the right fit with which company at what point in time. Or in the question of what kind of project would be the right.”
